See what our guests are saying about their time aboard the Excordis.

I have been on two trips with Mark and both times were excellent. Mark knows how to combine safety with maximum fun. He is an excellent captain and I always felt like we were completely taken care of. Mark is always thinking of the people on board and how he can make the trip better. Going out to dinner with Mark is the only way to go. Not only does he personally know many of the people running the restaurants we dined in, but he speaks the language so the food is always excellent. Mark knows the islands like the back of his hand, but he is always willing to explore new places. Mark was also completely willing to teach sailing basics and allow anyone who wants to get involved to do so. A very good instructor! If you get a chance, there is no better way to see the islands. The spots we visited were absolutely beautiful and I look forward to another trip soon!

We’ve traveled many places and nothing else tops our sailing trip with Mark. I was a little apprehensive about the small size of the boat in the beginning-in the end I didn’t want to leave it! Mark planned a wonderful trip for us to places only locals would know. We just sat back and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery and delicious food. Bring your GoPro so you’ll never forget it!

This is an incredible opportunity to see a side of Greece that NO tourist ever sees. Capt. Mark Beer is nearly fluent in Greek, an exceptional sailor, knowledgeable tour guide, and a tireless travel companion !! I did it last year for 10 days and it was absolutely fantastic.

Between Mark’s knowledge of Modern Greek language, geography and culture, his adept handling of the boat in all conditions, and his gusto for sailing, for Greece and for life, our week aboard the Oceanis Clipper was a dream come true. Mark took us to quiet bays where we slept beneath the stars and to quaint ports where his is a familiar and beloved face (it seemed that everywhere we went—from tavernas to cafes to markets—we were welcomed with open arms and hearts simply because we were with Mark, or “Markos” as he is known in those parts). Mark steered us to isolated swimming holes where we jumped from cliffs and swam in water that was exquisitely clear in hues of turquoise and blue. He taught us basic sailing skills and the art of playing tavli, or backgammon. Moreover, we did all of this with my children, ages 11 and 14, who enjoyed the experience as much as we did, possibly even more...if that’s possible! Mark has an uncanny knack with kids. After just a few days on the Oceanis, he became like a beloved uncle to them. We’ll be back to sail with Mark again one day—we can’t imagine a better person to guide us.

We visited Greece with Mark in July 2014 , and to be honest, this trip was well-planned and very memorable! 10/10 would go again. I would say that if you are comfortable camping/adventuring you will have no problem with the boat which is packed with amenities. The trip itself (regarding the actual places we visited) provided exploring , LOTS of swimming, the best food and time to relax. There were moments when I personally needed the dramamine , but they also sell it on some of the islands if you run out or don’t prepare properly. If you are shy about water or rocking I would say this trip isn’t for you...I’m normally great with boats but had 1 night with rocky seas and the rest completely enjoyable :) . I went as part of a couple and group, and I think pairing off can be nice because if you want to go explore you know you’ll always have a buddy. But making friends and group excursions are also part of the fun here. Our captain, Mark , always took us to fun spots, and made us feel safe which turns out is very important when sailing! I even got to steer the boat for a moment (under supervision) so THAT was pretty cool!! As a pro-tip I would say definitely bring aqua socks and snorkel masks. We took out the snorkels at every chance and ended up finding 150€ on the bottom of the ocean (it’s not deep but looks deeper than it is so if you don’t free-dive don’t try that at home). Just all around an unforgettable experience - you’d have to go to find out for yourself!

This past summer, Stephanie and I had the good fortune of being invited on a trip of a lifetime exploring the Greek isles by sail. Sharing this for any adventurers considering a trip in the future. Be sure to contact Mark Beer and Aegean Blue Charters. You won’t find a better skipper, guide, and friend to introduce you to the beauty and culture of Greece.

I really enjoyed the sailing trip with Mark. He let us stop and enjoy the sea and all of the cool places along the way. He taught us to sail, to tie knots, and showed us the coolest places on shore. Life on the Oceanis was awesome.

My trip on Mark’s sailboat was amazing. My favorite part was jumping off cliffs into the clear, blue water. Thank you, Mark.

My wife and I were one of three couples — all but one of us total sailing novices — who were fortunate to engage Mark as our captain for a weeklong sailing cruise in May 2013. While I would enthusiastically recommend Mark to captain anyone’s boat just about anywhere, he was an absolutely perfect guide for a bunch of Americans sailing the Greek Islands (in the Saronic Gulf, specifically), thanks to his fluent English and Greek and intimate knowledge of the area (courtesy of his having spent part of his youth living there). I cannot imagine a better sailing experience!
